What does the program entail and what is it’s impact?
Through a facilitating and exceptional program with International Volunteer Headquarters, I will be travelling to Kenya in September 2009 for duration of three weeks to teach at a local Maasai community school. I will be living with the Maasai, an indigenous tribe that is well known for its culture, cattle herding, and bright attire. They are a diminishing population and reside predominantly through the Rift Valley south of Nairobi and through Northern Tanzania.

Unlike the urbanized tribes in Kenya that have adopted more standardized living, the Maasai strive to maintain their way of life and customs by being nomadic and residing in the rural outskirts. The mission is to, with the assistance of a local NGO who can provide translation and orientation, provide a reinforced education system, community necessities such as water pumps and adequate shelter, access to vital medication and inoculations against endemic Malaria and AIDS that unfortunately continue to thrive in the area and to overall modernize the Maasai while still keeping their traditions intact.

How can I make a contribution or join?
Daniel Radcliffe, CEO of International Volunteer Headquarters endorses this website and everytime you make a donation, no matter how big, you will be added to our list of donors. Any contribution will bridge the gap one step closer to my journey to Kenya and to help this program continue so others can have the opportunity to volunteer. If you are interested, follow the link to International Volunteer Headquarters to see for yourself!

Like any trip, there will be expenses incurred. This is a life altering adventure that I will use to the benefit of others and share not only my personal experiences, but also the impact of the program on the village and the stories of people who we are helping through various media forms and writing. All of the pictures will be uploaded to the website to show YOUR impact on helping the International Volunteer HQ as well as send me to procure a change.
